What it is
A plug-in hybrid runs on two fuels with two prices, and the car never joins them up. Efficiency screens show energy, range guesses drift, and nobody can tell you whether yesterday's commute cost two dollars or ten.
HybridEdge blends the costs, exactly when and how you used the energy. A small Bluetooth OBD reader plugs into the diagnostic port every car has, and the app reads the same live figures a workshop scan tool reads: battery level, fuel level, speed, odometer. It prices the electric kilometres with your actual electricity plan, the petrol kilometres with your actual receipts, and keeps the whole history on your phone.
Accuracy
The app's readings are validated against the car's own instruments, drive by drive, before they are shown as truth. When the app has not verified a number for your exact model yet, it says so and asks you to read the dash while it learns.
How far the app's battery reading sat from the dash at full charge on the reference car, validated across the whole battery range.
Measured usable battery capacity agrees with the manufacturer's own cloud data to within two percent. The brochure figure was 10% off.
While you drive, the app takes a fresh reading from the car more than 150 times a minute: battery level, fuel level, speed, and what the engine is doing. Every trip is built from thousands of real measurements.

02 · Logbook
Every trip with odometer readings, places, and costs. Swipe to tag business or private, export a clean CSV for your accountant with the business-use percentage computed.

Pick your electricity plan from nearly 200 real Australian tariffs. Free windows and time-of-use included. A midnight charge and a peak-hour charge cost different money, and the app knows.

Litres and price read straight off the pump or receipt. Charging sessions scan too, from a screenshot of your charger's app or your charger's screen.
Every electron in your battery and litre of petrol in your tank has a price.
06 · PHEV database
Battery sizes, tank capacities, and consumption figures for the plug-in hybrids actually sold here, kept current without app updates. And multiple cars per household are supported.

07 · Live capture
Battery, fuel, speed, and which energy source is doing the work right now, live from the car while you drive. CarPlay included.
Measured values only. When the reader is off, the dials say so.
Privacy
There is no account, and your trips, costs, and locations stay on your phone. Two things can leave it, both your choice: anonymous calibration readings while your car's model is still being learned, which make the app accurate for every owner of that model, and a diagnostic report if you ever send one. The app asks you about calibration sharing plainly during setup. The privacy policy is short because there is so little to say.
Beta open now
HybridEdge was developed and validated on the Denza B5, and testing is rolling out across Denza, BYD, Toyota and Mitsubishi PHEV models through the same measure-everything process. All you need is an iPhone, your car, and a ~$50 reader.
