HybridEdge

Real running costs for plug-in hybrids — built by a PHEV owner, in the car.

35% pure-EV 65% petrol

Every number in the app is measured from the car — or it isn't shown.

What it is

HybridEdge answers the question the trip computer won't: what does each drive actually cost? Petrol and electricity together, per trip and per 100 km — with the split between them shown honestly, not averaged into a number nobody can confirm.

Log trips from the dash in ten seconds, or plug a $50 Bluetooth OBD reader into the port under the steering wheel and the car fills the numbers in itself — battery %, fuel level, odometer, second-by-second energy use.

Calibrated with photographs, not guesses

Development happens in a real PHEV, drive after validation drive, checking the app against the instrument cluster until they agree:

±0.3% battery gauge agreement with the dash, validated across the full charge window
Measured usable battery capacity from real trips — not the brochure figure
100% of costs traceable to a dash reading, a receipt, or a live decode

What it does

No account. No signup. No data collection.

The app tracks your car obsessively — the developer sees none of it. There is no login because there is nothing to log in to: your trips, routes and costs live on your phone, full stop. Read the privacy policy — it's short because there's so little to say.

Beta — Denza B5 & B8 owners first

HybridEdge is in closed beta, starting with the Denza B5 and B8 (the B5 is the car the app is calibrated against; B8 testers help calibrate theirs — other PHEVs follow via the same measure-everything process). Want in?

Small first group — B5 & B8 owners with a daily commute get priority.
